Misho Gallery assembled an array of bay area artists under the theme "Abstract Landscapes". It was a huge success.
It feature six painters and mixed media artists, three photographers and one scultor.

Misho @ Museum Park in San Francisco

Museum park is a condo building located within a block of SF MOMA & YBCA center for the art. Those two pictures are from my Art within the Art series "Homage to Gale Wagner" from her "Recovering" Sculpture. That sculpture can be see at the Oakland Museum of California. (OMCA). I felt it was an apropriate place for them.

Rapallo Wall & Santa Margherita

Both pictures were taken while touring the coastal region of Ligura, Italy – I sensed tat the walls of various edifices were speaking to me. Each wall with remnant colors of paint accrued over the centuries resembled the colors of Renaissance masters – each with a story to tell. 2009.

Black Gold

In Buenos Aires, Tango music is everywhere, every corner, oozing out of the cracks of the streets. This picture is taken of a sidewalk where black tar and paint met, creating a musical spill. My eyes followed the musical flow sensing peace and tension gong back and forth – creating a feeling or chronicling of a moment in time. 2008.

Acid Rain & Light Arrow

Taken in San Francisco, these two pictures are part of my “Concrete Stains” series. They represented pylons that existed under the freeway structure to the Trans Bay Terminal. They are now immortalized, a part of history that is now gone. 2010.

259 & Bryant Street Lava

Those pictures were taken within a block of the WaterMark. I tried to personalize your building highlighting items that are just a step from outside. 259 is a picture of a parking space number located around the corner. Bryant Street Lava features a pipe which runs along the sidewalk on Bryant Street. 2011.

Swiss Painter Nicole Bron Chappuis at 456 Montgomery

Well-known Swiss painter Nicole Bron Chappuis will be the subject of a small solo show at 456 Montgomery, where this Consulate is located, opening with an artist reception April 29. Nicole's luminous, geometrical works, which use acrylic and natural sand on canvas, will be on display through May 28. This exhibition presented in partnership with the artist and with Misho Gallery.

For my paintings, the term “multimedia” is an understatement. I use found objects, acrylics, oils, house paints, printing inks, watercolors, and pencils. I also employ multiple techniques, including brushing, sponging, printing, rubbings, reliefs, airbrushing, and just plain pouring it on. I love to layer multi-dimensional objects on top of one another, knowing that underneath each object is an invisible layer. My goal is to make the one-dimensional surface come alive.

Working with found objects and surplus paints and inks gives me a sense of well-being, esteem, and wholeness. When these objects are reappropriated, there is less waste running amok. It makes me feel as if everything we need is here, all around us; we don’t need to go out and get more. My work is itself a renewable resource.

For 25 years of my life, I was a homeless, disenfranchised, invisible person. My art became my vehicle of self-expression and a path to mental health. It allowed me to buy in, belong, and take my place in the community.

My work is spontaneous, and in some ways random. Finding the objects is up to fate. Each object has its own peculiar shape, and I play with those shapes to create electric contrast. My eye can see what needs to go where, what colors will create contrast for the object. The colors and shapes are my playground.

My current work includes adding vivid airbrush work to the painting and printing so the objects appear to crawl out of the compositions. I keep the theme of randomness. It’s like working on an engine while it’s running.

The closing reception for "Invisible lights" brought " Le groupe" back together for the first time in years. Way back when, we use to play every month ( or was it every week ) at the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco. Only one rule, no rehearsal no song. P.K. Frizzell work is so inspiring it was very rewarding to interpret her pieces.

“Invisible Light”

These pieces are paintings made in two layers. The bottom layer consists of highly textured surfaces created by manipulating and compressing materials into paint, resulting in surfaces evocative of certain ceramic firing techniques (wood fire, soda ash fire, etc.) or surfaces that occur in inner city buildings, walls and sidewalks that have been acted upon by a human presence for a great deal of time. The surfaces are also evocative of those arising from disasters, such as floods, fires or war. I overlay shadows of people, dogs or trees that I’ve printed on clear sheets of acrylic or glass. Sometimes I overlay x-rays of large jars. These overlays interact with the under-layers in many ways. Sometimes they result in a narrative about nature, war, creation or destruction. I’m fascinated by shadows because they have a beautiful resonance with the materials they overlay, and yet they are absolutely nothing, not even light.

Auction proceeds benefit Pro Arts' Youth Fellows Initiative, a program that nurtures artistic development by integrating arts education, exhibition opportunities, professional arts training, youth internships and youth development in the introduction of artistic practices to youth in Oakland public high schools.

Box Art 2010 features original works made from recycled materials distributed by Pro Arts in partnership with The Reuse People (TRP) and Habitat for Humanity. This annual fundraisers inspires fun, new work created in community with other artists working with the same materials.

Here is a picture of the box I painted and donated. I was just coming back from the la fnac show in Switzerland and Only had 3 days to do it. It was a fun experience and after seeing the wonderful work of some of my fellow artist I am very inspired for next year project.

Master class photo

Part of having a show at la fnac is to give a " Master" class photo. It did really enjoyed it. A few days before I went to shoot some pictures around the buliding. We did look at them. I had the audience pick a few and I showed them how you can turn simple pictures in your envinronent into "Abstact Gallery Pieces"

I did as well showed some similarity beetween some of my work compared to some of the abstract masters like Franz Kline for exemple.

Six ville en Surface et en Profondeur

This is the name of the solo show at la fnac Lausanne in Switzerland

It consists of photographs of walls, sidewalks and other insignificant objects. They were shot in six cities. The idea behind the show is two sided. One is to try to stimulate people’s imaginations and to stir them to see things in a different way. The other is to show that, once you get past the preconceived ideas we have, cities, just like people, have more similarities than differences.

Whoa ! Time fly. It has already be a year since I opened Misho Gallery. Time to celebrate. For the occasion I will start the 90-90 project.

In addition I will show my contemporary Mixed media and water colors. Alan Mazzetti will be bring some of his Abstract Painting and some of his Landscape. Additional Artist will listed at a later dates.

What is the 90-90 concept ?

Very often in the gallery, people would like to see a picture turn 90 degrees to the left of the right because they see something in it. The abstract become real for them in that position.
Since the opening I did struggle with one thing. How to keep the people coming back and not get board without removing some of my better pieces for the first time visitor. This is when I came up with the 90-90 concept. Every new show I will turn
90% of the pieces 90 degrees.
